How do GEM NEVs help meet your EPAct requirements?
Although GEM cars do not directly qualify for EPAct credits, the two examples below indicate how GEM cars help meet your EPAct requirements through the process of reducing your fleet size.
Example 1: Government Fleet A (state or federal) is budgeted to acquire 10 light-duty vehicles in MY 2008.
- 3 subcompacts; 4 light duty trucks; and 3 SUVs
- 10 new vehicles X 75% = 8 AFV requirement
Fleet A will have to purchase 8 AFVs out of its 10 new acquisitions.
Example 2: Government Fleet B (state or federal) is budgeted to acquire 10 light duty vehicles in MY 2008, but 3 are NEVs. - 3 NEVs; 4 light duty trucks; and 3 SUVs
- 7 new vehicles X 75% = 5 AFV requirement
Remember NEVs are not "vehicles." They are "equipment." Fleet B will have to purchase 5 AFVs out of its 10 new acquisitions.
