California Clean Vehicle Rebate Program

GEM e4

California Residents: Your New GEM Car Purchase May Qualify for the California Clean Vehicle Rebate Program!

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has implemented the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project which allows new GEM battery-electric vehicles purchased on or after March 15, 2010 to be eligible for a rebate of up to $1,350 (rebate varies based on vehicle model).

Please note that this is a limited time offer and all rebates will be distributed on a strict first-come, first-served basis and issued to qualified recipients in a single allotment. Final decisions regarding this rebate program will be made by CARB.

How do I qualify for the California Clean Vehicle Rebate?

In order to qualify for this rebate, the following criteria must be met:

1. Be an individual, business, nonprofit or government entity that is based in California or has a California based-affiliate.

2. Be the purchaser of a new 2009 or 2010 model year GEM e2, GEM e4, GEM eS, GEM eL, or a GEM eL XD.

3. Ensure that the new GEM vehicle is equipped with maintenance-free gel batteries and the Global Care Plus extended service plan (see your GEM dealer for details).

4. Purchase the vehicle on or after March 15, 2010 and prior to the exhaustion of available rebate funds.

5. Retain ownership of the vehicle for a minimum of 36 consecutive months immediately after the vehicle purchase or lease date. Rebate recipients who do not retain the eligible vehicle for the full 36-month ownership or lease period will be required to reimburse CARB all or part of the original rebate amount.

6. Register the new vehicle with the California Department of Motor Vehicles for a minimum of 36 months for use in California. Any government owned vehicle not registered with the California DMV is still required to operate within California for 36 consecutive months immediately after the vehicle purchase or lease date.

Please visit the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project web site for a detailed list of applicant requirements.

5. For individuals, a copy of a utility or cable bill from within the last 3 months or other valid proof of California residency as approved by the California Center of Sustainable Energy. Other forms of valid proof include a signed, dated and notarized rental agreement or a copy of the current vehicle DMV registration.
